I found this old Hatena series I never posted about a village that worshipped the sun and remade it. #TowerofSuns #Holocene
So it takes place on this floating island. Presumably, this island is the only place where live is still able to flourish. And somehow the moon and sun were destroyed so an artificial ones were created to retain the cycle!
The civilization holds a ceremony everyday to honour the sun.

(cont) rather fair hair, however, occasionally a dark haired child is born. It's believed that dark haired children were sent by the gods to look over the people and control the sun and moon; that theyre destined to become the next Light House Keeper, and are given to the current one to be trained. Keepers maintain order of the "sun" and "moon", and are the few that know that they are artificial. They're the only ones that know how to do this, and are seldom seen outside. If a Light House Keeper were to d,ie or go missing with no apprentice, no one would know how to take over.
