A couple things I did was continuously read my aura and discovered various meanings to my own colors, such as orange and purple being my natural colors, but when I'm in deep thought, the purple turns to a dark teal.

Being able to remember and recall dreams helped me. Everynight you go to sleep, promise yourself you'll remember your dream and recall every thing you can the next day.

If you wanna try to get somewhere where there's no threats, before sleeping, envision a post-apocolyptic city where everything's gray and black. There's still buildings standing, but they're pretty run down and there's sha'ttered glass everywhere inside. That's where I've been going the past few nights and Dreamkitten even confirmed there's nothing threatening there.
