Rapture by Athens

Part of #madthen You can read it as an alternate ending to "Headache," or events happening after "Angst is Solved Not Solved," or whatever. I don't even know man. Completely up to reader interpretation!

Very nice!

Athens

Blankets? Okay, no blankets. This heat was relentless! The safe beckoned to him even more than before.
“Of course, I wouldn’t be able open it, /they/ made the combination. I would never be able to guess it. I don’t even know how many numbers are in it, but... shouldn’t I know? I went through the ones associated with their obsession with even numbers, multiples of five, adoration of nine, sympathy for six and... and the multiples of seven.” He then talked to himself with a steady stream of gibberish that made half-sense to himself until:

“Wait, what was that?”
“You didn’t catch it?”
“Yeah, sorry.”
“No problem, I forgot what I was saying anyway.”
“You’d think a train thought would be heavy enough to stay on the tracks easier, eh?”
“Oh about those tracks.. I think I need to make some repairs to them.”
“Really?”
“Well, they have been looking a little rusty and I don’t want anyone to hurt in a wreck. Could you send some couriers out?”
“Ha, in the middle of the night like this, how about tomorrow morning? You’re such a contradict when it comes to your selfless- and selfishness.”
“Shut up.” With that he turned away onto his side of the bed and frowned.
Everything still hurt, but so much time had passed that he just wanted to end. That safe was not meant for protection, just mockery.
“Hey, master!” words just annoyed him more. Candlelight came close to him again.
“Before you say anything, let me just-” he slid off his bed to lay on the ground, belly up with his eyes closed.
The dog just looked down and smirked. “Sit up. Take this!”
He sat up, still refusing to open his eyes, with his hands open. Something cold and smooth; a cup. He smiled and took a long a drink. It was smooth, thick, with foam at the top. His lips felt numb as the coolness spread from the roof of his and down his throat. The pain didn’t really go away, it was just forgotten like one of those awful memories he tried so desperately to erase.
He felt so light, which was odd considering he never took note of any heaviness before. He felt as light as a grasshopper, because grasshoppers don’t fly much. He was afraid to say it, but it felt angelic almost. The dog then wrapped its arms around him, just as Acronym opened his mouth to say something. It had stood up, with the prince still in his arms, and spun around. It had spun and spun and spun and he broke into a fit of laughter. Wow, this felt so nice. Just spinning and spinning until everything seemed to slow down. He could focus on the deep quick breaths he took and the wind pushing his mane and tail. Its arms held him so tight without pain and he loved it. He loved all of this!
But,

the spinning slowed until it set him down on his feet. He giggled at his dizziness and at how hard it was to stand still. He wished he could say a million thanks, but he lost his voice. He just gave it one of his genuine smiles of graciousness. “Very much welcome. You are the positivity after all.” it had said and walked away with the candlelight. It had left him just waving goodbye and giggling to himself in the darkness.
“I am the positivity?” what a silly thing to say. It was so silly that it had he took him a few moments of silence to realize he had to sleep.
