I thought in the same way as you in old days, too.
All the people around me finish a picture with one piece of layer. Therefore I am not proud of it.
In the case of an analog illustration, "layer of the computer software" is the same as the accumulation of the layer of the paint and fast-dry technique. The freedom of the picture on the PC(Tablet) is lost by denying "layer of the computer software".
I use the usable thing.
