I think this looks great! I think sometimes you just need a lil inspiration when you have trouble drawing something a certain way, Ive certainly had that issue...once or twice, heh.
I was tryin to achieve transparancy in the stream, like lookin through water...im just not happy with the end result. Watch the replay, i struggled like a fork...lol
I think I know what you mean. I had a similar issue in my "Precipice" drawing. The problem is that the layers appear to be upright instead of angled as though the water was moving away from the eye.
Thank you! It´s awesome that someone like YOU comment MY paintings (in a positive way i mea n) o.o So thanks for your counsel and i will consider it in my next painting :) PS:your art is amazing ;)
Yes, it is entirely possible that Herbert didn't read the description. I've had a similar issue with my DK night-time stream-crossing painting, and am currently encountering the same perplexing effect with a ring and map painting.
If I am able to discover a trick that allows for smoother transition between continuously-conforming layers at a high 3D setting I will be sure to let you know. I did alright with my Beleriand from Space painting, but that has a low 3D setting.
Thanks for the tips Josh. It's actually still a work in progress, and if you watch the playback you'll see I had that exact set-up before I combined layers and messed it up. I've been letting this painting sit for a while. Perhaps its time I returned to it. I hadn't even considered DK's reflection yet, the highlights in the water were merely where the moon (projecting its light into the image) reflected at the proper angle. Thanks for reminding me about background objects, I seriously might have forgotten. It was very nice of you to give me those tips. You are followed my friend. Oh, and the only way I'm seeing the effect you're trying here working is if you use the eraser at low opacity and feather some layer edges. Another trick that may work, with the grass at least, is drawing in a few low opacity blades in the layer in front of the one where they ought to belong, towards the edge of the nearer grassy contours. Hope that helps.
And I agree with JJ. Colors needs to develop an entirely new program to which current paintings can be transfered that has layers coming out of the screen and other features. I'm not sure such can be achieved with an update, because I think addition of layers within the current file formatting and partitioning system employed by the application is either impossible, or would severely reduce the playback limit. IMO.
A Valid opinion, highly respected. And as long as you dont take my critz the wrong way, ill ALWAYS help out and give "another artists POV" to aid you in accomplishing the picture!
Oh I'm always open to criticism. How else may I improve? If I can't improve, how can I go on living? Nah, just kidding (about the last part). But yes, do feel free to provide me with your suggestins or anything else whenever you wish to. For what is Techno so very thankful?

It still looks a lot better than I'd do... maybe one day they give us an update with a layer that sticks out of the screen
