This is similar to how my expectations of the popularity of my paintings go.
NEW/ORIGINAL PAINTING:
Expectations: everyone's going to LOVE this!
Reality: only a few likes.
TRENDING STUFF:
Expectations: it's funny/cute but I don't think that many people will too much care about it.
Reality: one of the most popular pictures in my gallery.
