One thing that could help a bit, is when writing in romaji (english letters) japanese words don't use the letter C, except for Ch. It's always K.
Oh, and it's 'arigatou', not 'arigatu'. Dunno whether you just typo'd there or what, but I thought I'd just point that out. :)
Uhhm, I don't really know how to help you out with the jp characters; just practice a lot I guess? :3
