Okay, so the 2ds, as you all know, will play 3ds games without being able to play them in 3d. I think this actually a really good idea. The device was designed with kids in mind. Children under seven couldn't play the games in 3d, and prolongued use can put a strain on the eyes. Secondly, it will not have a hinge, so it's basically a tablet. This is also an excellent design choice for kids because a small child will not be able to loosen the hinge through frequent use. (Con't in comments

Thirdly, it is coming out on the same day as Pokemon X and Y...AND at a lower price point than the 3ds! This means parents will be MUCH more willing to buy their kid a Nintendo handheld console.
Though is may seem like a foolish venture at first, in the long-term, it makes a lot of sense.

^^me too X)
but it has no protection for the screens unless you buy the case thingie for $12.99...and it's not been proven that kids under seven can have their eyes damaged by threedee...has it?

Thanks, Fairy Tail!
And Biggoron, I'm pretty sure the whole "under 7 years old" thing is an unlikely case. I also think that's there so they don't get sued.

I'd like one to keep at home to supplement my 3DS XL and it's good for all the retro games! c:

Now that you mention it, I haven't noticed dead pixels, but I do see a lot of dust molecules along the area where they meet. Perhaps you're on to something!
