Fluffy Stegosaurus by epicdjs

I've always imagined that almost all non avian dinosaurs had some kind of covering. #dinosaur #stegosaurus #snow #winter #allyesterdays #fuzzy #furry #animal #dinosaurs #dino #archosaur #jurassic #cold #reptillian

Obviously avian dinosaurs, and avialian dinosaurs since Archaeopterix, have had fluff or feathers covering at least part of their bodies. I have assumed in my picture of a Stegosaurus that non-maniraptoran dinosaurs lost their covering by adulthood. But I agree with you that it may have been an ancestral trait of all dinosaurs, and even that all dinosaurs, at least embryonically, possessed the scale nodules that give rise to feathers in others. Awesome painting by the way.
