Here's the idea (I think): It is designed for younger kids. Meaning children under the age of 7 can't use the 3d. Not to mention there being no hinge means the upper screen won't loosen up an flop around everywhere. Not to mention it's gonna be WAY cheaper than the 3ds. As crazy as it sounds, I think this was a really good move on Nintendo's part.
