Cornflower Blue by Infestation
Blue is an elderly pharmacist. In his youth, he dedicated his life to the study of a mysterious blue flower, but became addicted to it's effects, to the point of it slowly obscuring his pill cutey mark. Beyond an extensive knowledge of plants and their effects, he cannot remember his life before becoming addicted to the blue flower... Even his name was given to him by the pony who healed him, after finding him alone, half dead.

Man, I just love your dark takes on ponies! They're genuinely creative and not dark for the 'cool' factor.

@ThrowFox: Actually, that's exactly what it is! It's a personal headcannon that unicorns who are greedy for power (such as King Sombra, the evil former ruler of the Crystal Empire) will actually CARVE THEIR HORNS into a menacing point in order to focus their powers better. The extra horn is then ground down and ''forged'' as a blade around the exposed core, making it longer and thinner.
Essentially a knockoff Alicorn horn made by permanently disfiguring yourself, and the pony equivilent of drilling a hole in your head to give yourself an ''expanded consciousness.'' Of course, this is painful, dangerous, has no mesurable benefits, and has been made illegal for those reasons.
But mostly I just think it looks bada.ss and is easier to draw than the usual stubby spiral!
