Yeah, it is kind of poop that the people working hard and doing original art are not being notised enough, plus it seems anyone doing a picture of a Nyan Cat gets likes, go figure....
Mmm... I don't really care if people trace or not, but I do agree that those who do original work should get a little bit more credit than they have been getting.
;_; I don't really care about tracers, but it is unfair how they get so many likes. Also, it's bad if they claim it as their own. It's really bad when you get accused of tracing too, especially when you spend hours on it with no tracing. :(
& when they say "this took me 12 hours plz like" and no other explanation of their badly made trace, it ticks me off! Coming from a real artist, I know what 12 hours really feels like.
Sadly enough, the pictures that I trace are the only ones that seem to get likes. Then one anime girl picture that I spent 5 hours on gets FOUR goddamn likes. 4! The people who neglect original art are showing me that I had it right before.
I agree... I will admit that I have traced once, but no more shall I stoop so lowly and do so! I hope more people can see this and realize that this site should be for true artists and not for those who get their pleasure through likes from traced pictures. (ps. please check out my gallery if u get a chance ^-^)
To be honest, I love tracing, and I have uploaded a traced picture of my dog on Nintendogs, but I DID say it was traced. I have many more 'tracelings' but it just doesn't feel right to upload them 'cause I feel that I have an unfair advantage over people who don't trace... Also I DO NOT agree with people claiming traced pics as their own original work. Sorry you had to read so much ^^''
The fact that somebody traced doesn't make them stupid. It takes skill to trace it perfectly and more skill to get all the colors right. And perhaps not all tracers don't look so derpy and ret4rded, but actually look like a total Boss.
Tracing takes no skill, It's the same as riding a bike with training wheels, Might as well buy yourself a colouring book, come back when you're an actual artist.
I trace sometimes, but if I upload it, it's because I like the 3d effect in it. If I upload one, I also put in the description it's traced. I don't see anything wrong with that, but that's just me... and none of my stuff gets likes anyway, whether it's traced or not.
But yeah, I know what you really mean but let's not forget what I've said as it could be the case with some pictures online. But having said all that, I've only uploaded 1 picture so far anyway...
tracing i don't have a problem with if you are practicing colouring and the like what i have a problem with is art thieves claiming others work as their own
I dislike art-theifs also... and tracing... it depends on how you trace. The only reason I would trace is the fact I am not good at digital art, so what I do is I take a picture of something I drew by hand and trace over it... I haven't posted anything pieces I made through this process yet but so far it dramticly increases the the quality of my 3D art.
Agh, yes. I was upset over a painting I knew that belonged on DeviantArt and someone claimed it as theirs. And I knew the artists work because I have an account with Deviant (way before I knew about colors). The girl on colors did not want to admit it was someone elses work. -__-
I would never claim someone elses art. I find all mine on google for reference photos to pratice, but I dont trace, even though I draw weird. But it is dumb they get hella stars -_-

Tracing is okay but it's not okay to claim it or for uploads, it's just not right.
11 May, 2012, 5:54 pm

They shouldn't say, "I made this drawing up and didn't get it from a website" though.

Hahaha! Yup. I pretty much agree with you on the whole "shouldn't claim as your own" thing, but I will say this:
20 Jul, 2012, 10:16 am
In certain conditions, tracing has no affect on ownership OR skill (excluding 'practise').
20 Jul, 2012, 10:19 am
You cannot shame at me, for I actually draw on paper, then take a picture of it on the 3DS, THEN I trace that.
20 Jul, 2012, 10:21 am

when it comes to your own artwork I'd like to think of it as inking/re-inking
25 Jul, 2012, 11:26 pm
tracing i don't have a problem with if you are practicing colouring and the like what i have a problem with is art thieves claiming others work as their own

I trace sometimes, but I give credit to the person that made it.
It is true that original art hardly does get recognized.

om tracing yes but im not claimimg it
