I began watching Free! with my expectations pretty low. I'm not one for fanservice (overloads of it anyway, can't complain about a small bit though.) or for shipping unless it's canon. The show surprised me in the sense that it had more to offer than that, nice group dynamics, good animation, sure the characters are pretty generic but it's a fun show and a nice light-hearted break from the heavier stuff I have been watching.
