Study of Tosa Mitsuoki's "Bay of Akashi" by Fight the Tide

This is my tribute to a seventeenth century ( #Edo Period) portrait of the legendary poet Kakinomoto no Hitomaro on the shore of Akashi Bay, as depicted by yamato-e style painter Tosa Mitsuoki. I love how the empty space is used to establish the mighty, open expanse of #nature between Hitomaro and the mountains beyond.
I took that design (WITHOUT tracing, as usual) and 3D-ified it!

The two kanji I added at the bottom represent #love and #happiness.
