I'm not the best at depicting detailed environments, but what I do is just sort of block out silhouettes of objects that represent the environment I want the viewer to read. So if this cutie is hangin' out in his room or something, I'd just do a quick silhouette of maybe a desk, chair, bed, or w/e, and keep the shading minimal. As you get more and more comfortable drawing that kind of environment, add more detail and so on. Hope that helps... Keep drawing! I'd like to see more from you! :)
