Just in case you're wondering, anyone in my Smeargle's "pack" gets a paw print on their back once they do something that he recognizes as heroic in the series. Basically, he treats all his freinds like his pack, and considers himself the leader. To a Smeargle, being painted with his permanent paint means you're highly respected.

Yeah, Smeargle considers Nincada a member of his pack. That means when he gains enough respect, he marks him with a paw print.
