e-e Shame on you for never playing it.
But I expected that. You're probably into games like Assasins Creed, Halo, Modern Warfare, Grand Theft Auto, etc.
I think you should start with Animal Crossing: Wild World before getting New Leaf.
That way you can get a better understanding of what's going on in New Leaf.
Plus if ya don't like Wild World, you probably won't like New Leaf.
(You can also get City Folk instead of Wild World, but that's for the Wii.)

It is a VERY slow game, and you never exactly "complete" it.
