After living in the Final Fantasy XIII fanfiction archive for more than a year, It's literally hard for me to get into other fanfics of other catagorys. For LoK, I've read/reread Pema/Korra drabbles, then I'm following one actual chapter fic from there, which happens to be a Amorra. I often dabble into SE for my DTKxLiz/Patti fics, though :U

Amy and Rory were like my fav doctor who companions, and they left, and despite the fact that the episode was really cheesy I cried for way too long when they left.

They are good! Great, actually. Written wonderfully, with chatacters never going OOC! I recomend you try out Tear of Light's "Finding Home" first, since it takes place right after XIII, and is the precurser to her "Tainted Fal'cie" fic, which is epic. Or, Tear of Light's "Etro's Keepers" if you want something shorter, and adorabu-er.
Though, if you want AUs', Raziel12's "Headed West" or "Wasteland" are great places to start, since their Finished. As you could tell, Headed West is a westeren themed AU told from Hope's POV as his family is escorted by a misterious pinkhaired cowboy-erm, girl. Very well written.
Wasteland, which I'm venting about here is an amazing Zombie AU with glorious character development n' stuff.
Whisper of the Gods is ongoing right now, but it's got feels, and written perfectly.

Which ones have you played then? Try Final Fantasy X, or FF VIII, or FFVI, or FFXIII (warning on that one: If you like it, you'll be hated, as all FFXIII fans/lovers are.). But, just start whereever you want, really. That's the amazing thing about the franchise.

Anyway, yes, that's a sequel, thus I do not advise you to play it unless you either...

A) Play buy & Final Fantasy XIII

B) Watch the 'movie' walkthrough on Youtube [I known a channel that has it in it's entierty, which my good friend @StarBoy(TwentyTwo) did]

You /could/ play the sequel by it's self... but... There really isn't a point... You wouldn't understand the story completely, or the Connnecct!on! You wouldn't understand Fang & Vanille's small moment! Or Why Serah fought just to see her sister; you wouldn't get the bond. You wouldn't get the world, the Mythos; Fal'Cie, L'Cie, Purge. FFXIII is important to play first, IF you can invest yourself into a deep and complex story that includes reading for understanding.
Final Fantasy touched me personally, and I absolutly love it. I promise you it's a great game with a beautiful story & Music. The Sequel was hard[emotionally], and I cried. And now, the final game of the Lightning Saga, Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII is coming out in Febuary of next year.
I cannot even begin to describe my feels I have for FFXIII, or it's characters.
