I visited New Mexico and I urge any artist who hasn't to go there as it has some strong art history and an awesome art community, on top of some gorgeous scenery. The real life transition is almost as extreme as this, and the biome change shown really happens on the New Mexico side. One is more common in a certain state than the other.
