Storyline (so cliche >.<): S.pike falls ill and Twilight is unable to save him. After 2 years, she manages to bring him back, with a little help.
In this version of "I've Missed You", S.pike is wearing a dragon force (type of energy) amulet. It represents his life force/will to live. His will to live, as well as his inner strength, keep him alive and the amulet glowing. If he loses hope/his will to keep going(devastation/heartbreak) the d.f., his very life essence, runs out.
