Amon says he hates benders, yet he has the ability to take away someone's bending, which would mean that he is an energy bender, like Aang was. If you dont believe me, watch the series finale of Avatar: The Last Airbender and listen to the scene where the Lion-Turtle talks about energy bending.

Whoever Amon is, I think we'll find out in the one hour season finale on June 23rd. (I know right, it seems too early for a season finale. Epic season though, you have to admit that.)

Maybe Korra will become an energy bender like Aang. But instead of taking away bending, she'll be able to give a former bender their bending back. But not be able to give bending to a non-bender, that would just be stupid.
