this was inspired & was re-interpreted art by me from a short story (chapter name: "A Dancing Girl") written by the author Barry Hughart in his beautiful Chinese fantasy novel, "Bridge of Birds" Her name was Bright Star & she was murd3r3d by a princess for jealousy over a handsome soldier. Her ghost (depicted here) was challenged by one of the novel's protagonists, Number Ten Ox to the beautiful but deadly 'Sword Dance'.Bright Star's earthly bonds were broken & she was reunited with her lover.

excellent! loads of detail in her clothes! is that her hair standing on end?

no, she is in the middle of executing a move wherein she jumps very high, whips razor-sharp swords around her body & her opponent's body (without harm), & on her way down, which is what is depicted here, must again prepare to jump & execute a new, more complex move...all done to drumbeats in firelight. Her hair is merely floating because her body came down faster-gravity for ghosts. My hair does that too...it's just as long & straight...of course, i'm not a ghost like her (at least i don't think so...)Oh, yeah...she has to do all these moves before her feet touch the ground. Cool, huh? Really...read the book...it's funny, it's fantasy, part history (Chinese), cool fights & chases & wonderful romance, too.

Very elegant and detailed peice. Wish I could say the same for the moon too... but that was probably simplified to magnify attention to the sword dancer huh? Great job. :]
