Your shading technique is good, yet you forgot one component: Lighting! The eyes should match where the lighting is coming from. The darker parts are on the left, so it appears the light is coming from the right. So next time you should include lighting too to improve your technique. :3 If you need guidence, you can ask me anytime or go to Rogue Ranger's tutorial on "How to shade." Hope I helped! Besides that, I loved this picture!
