Backstory: Will Power lived with his parents and sister before the trotters came. Their house was perched beside a forest and was a quick walk away from his uncles house. Will Power would often walk to his uncles house, mostly to shoot targets, something he enjoyed greatly. His uncle would often try to get him to go on hunting trips which he took twice a week. Will always refused, when ask for a reason he simply said: "I don't want to . . .to shoot things, It gives me a horrible feeling."
So his uncle eventually gave up on taking him but Will still came by to shoot targets, everyday.
Will lay in his bed, unaware off the threat that was readily approaching his home, and ready to tear his world apart. It started with his younger sister coming into his room at night:
"Will, Will!" his younger sister yelled while shaking her brother.
"Aug . . .what sis, what is it?"Will tiredly replied
"Something not right brother, dad heard sounds in the forest," her voice was quiet and scared. "And, and he hasn't come back yet . . .Mom went a little later to check on him but she's not back either"
Will Power slowly stepped out of his bed and put his hoof on his sister shoulder, "It's all right Coral I'm sure there fine, go back to sleep alight? If you want you can sleep in my room."
"But mom said she'd come right back and it's been thirty minutes, or more!" "Thirty minutes? When did dad leave?"
"I don't know maybe two hours." Coral said lowering her head.
Will Powers muscles tensed as he heard those words.
“Two hours, are... Are you sure?” Will replied now in a wavering voice.
“Yes I’m sure, i've been counting the minutes...”
Will stood there for a moment thinking to himself. Okay, keep your cool Will, it's probably nothing serious. Will felt his sister move beside him curling up.
“Don’t leave okay brother, I don’t want you to disappear too...”
“Mom and Dad didn’t di-” Will powers ears shot up, hoofsteps, he heard hoofsteps. “ Hey I think there back lets go down and see them okay?” Coral instantly perked up upon hearing this, nodded and followed. The footsteps became closer and louder and Will noticed that whoever it was was galloping, and fast. As they were going down the stairs Will stopped.
“Coral...Go upstairs”
“wh-”
At that moment the door burst upon with not his parents but his uncle there.
“CORAL, WILL?” He yelled looking around until spotting them “Oh thank goodness you’re alright, I don’t have much time to explain but you need to come with me now!”
“I, what? Where are our parents?” Will said trotting down the stairs, Coral closely following him. His uncles face went dark, “ I’ll explain later but right now we need to move and f-”
*crash*
They look to their right and find the window smashed with something slowly climbing through.
“NO, nononono how did they get here so fast.” Wills uncle looked to them both, his eyes... Will will never forget the look in his eyes. His uncle pulled out a rifle aiming at the creature now approaching them. He quickly glanced back at them. “Run...RUN!” They both bolted to the door making their way out of the house.
*BANG*
The house lit up with the shots of the gun.Will heard his uncle yell these words as he ran out “Go to my shed and get Black Beauty(sawed-off shotgun) and make for the nearest town. Keep your sister safe...at all cost!” His words then faded as they trampled along, away from the house. Coral stated slowing down, sniffling. “Coral are you tired? Get on my back okay, get on my back...” Will lowered himself and Coral climbed up.
“Will...that thing...” Coral said with tears now flowing.
“I know sis, It’s o-okay uncle will take care of it, and then will m-meet in town, okay? Will said trembling.
Coral looked Will in the eyes“Will...that thing was...mom.”.
