might as well not quote movies or poetry. dont sing or hum songs because you didnt get permission. get bent, people do all of the above, its not right if you pass it off as your own. and I trace, it makes me better, i dont claim it, i post it to show others what I like.

Hey, I trace from MY photography. I'm not the best artist, I am good at freehand and tracing, but where I feally shine is my colors and photography. So I take that and get to work.

whatever not every one can draw a friken pirfict panting tracing is how i started practicing when i was a kid thats like saying that colering books are bad be chus you just draw on pages that have been coped alredy ok so some kids just want to have good art its not a crime its flatery :]

see art is not just to take credit for if you truly love art you just try enything to show the world how great it is not say (O LOOK HOW GOOD I AM AND LOOK HOW MUCH YOU SUCK)

I am not completely against tracing, but that doesn't mean I'm fully supporting it. I see very few traced paintings here that I actually like. If I see someone use something as a refrence that DOES NOT look like the original in any way, combined with a unique style of coloring, giving it form or even perhaps making better than the original, I'd like it. Tracing can be used as a way of practicing art skills but will not get someone anywhere if it's just a carbon copy of the original as the original author of the image that was traced requires more credit than the tracer. Over traced fanart and obviously traced pieces of work should not be given what they get but I suppose the setting of this website and given the fact that young kids roam here helps such work stay popular as they can't appreciate originality. Plus some just want attention.

Besides, I just like to have fun and give my tiny amount of fans something better than just a scribble. Stars are nice; but I'm not gonna beg for them

I like seeing traces sometimes.. but I'm too proud to do it myself-haha

either way, express your freedom of choice, trace or draw or just scribble, it doesnt matter. if this was a competition then there would always be a cheating noob. but its not, no one is cheating, they are just expressing themselves differently from you. how is that wrong? i like dragons but cant draw it to save my life, so get ready for some traced work, its my way of expressing what i like. i dont need stars, nor do i care if i get any, ever. oh, and i like the art if its life like or something i enjoy, not necessary all are good, but at least i enjoy it. ya'll worry to much about how u compare, or what others think.

If you don't like to draw, why did you get this app in the first place? If you're good at photography, then get an Instagram or Tumblr. This is a place for people to draw, not copy. I guess tracing might be okay, but it isn't necessary to upload something that isn't an original drawing.

the way I see it, if youre gonna trace, atleast add a little effort to it, make a nice background, change up the color style so it looks a tad different, mix things up a bit. Its very degrading to us people who draw free handedly for hours, only to see some kid did a exact trace of toon Link (exact same picture as the 8 other people before him) and seeing said picture in the weekly favorites. All these traces push the unique drawings out of the way, unless you happen to post your awesome drawing during the day when everyone is awake and active on here, it takes alot of luck to get your stuff seen ive noticed...

since when did you get to decide how people can and cant express themselves? i read that you can make you own app on some devices, maybe that would be a good starting point for you? i'll keep tracing, singing, and mocking my fav lines from movies, life is far to short to be so picky about something so small. btw, i liked your smilies....but i'm pretty sure i've seen them somewhere before.... :P

oh, and I love to draw, trace, doodle, sketch etc. is meditating for me. I dont do it (or anything else) for the 'likes' or 'approvals'. wait....isnt that how bands become sell outs... just some more food for thought. ;)

I agree with DrawingMan. This is an art gallery for original pieces, not ones that people copy off of the internet. Tracing personal photos is a bit different, but still isn't fair for the people who spend hours freehanding. Maybe Nintendo could make an update for the 3DS camera app and have a gallery for that, but this just isn't the place for any tracing at all. It's a drawing app, for a drawing gallery.
