Mellow Heart had just finished brewing a pot of hot cocoa. The sweet smell made her feel bubbly and happy. Hopefully the ponies that would be entering her shop at opening time would feel the same way. It was winter, Mel's favorie season. Even if it did get a bit cold, ponies seemed to appreciate warmth and friendship more at this time of year. The fact that her hot chocolate sells better during this time didn't hurt either. The sweet tink tink sound of the bell signaled the first customer of the morning. With a smile, the unicorn walked out to greet the customer.

Rainbooks had been exhausted for the past few days. She'd been working all out on exams, and her mind was shutting itself off. Now, it was time to take a break. /I could use something nice and warm. But I don't feel like getting my sweater./ the unicorn thought. She folded her scarf around her neck and took her saddlebag. It was time to go get a cup of hot chocolate.
As Rainbooks stepped in the coco shoppe, a cute wind chime jingled above the door. Immediately the owner came to greet Rainbooks. "Hey there!" she said, coco power puffed on her cheeks.

"Oh why hello there! Welcome to Mel Coco Cafe! What would you like?" Mel said to the colorful unicorn.

"Oh, hello there... Mellow Heart!" Rainbooks said half-heartedly. As much as she really DID feel happy, to be there, her mind was still kind of crazy. Unfortunately, the unicorn's reply hadn't shown much delight, and the shop owner immidiately got started on a cup of hot coco. Meanwhile, Rainbooks plopped down on a chair, making much more noise than she intended.

Bluemoon also entered. She was in a bad mood because she fell on her way to work. As she walked in she waved to the people around her. "Hello everypony!"

Rainbooks saw Bluemoon walk in out of the corner of her eye. She'd seen the mare before and the blue pony seemed friendly, so Rainbooks waved back. "Hi there" the white unicorn called back, taking a quick glance at her hot chocolate that was still getting mixed.

Ting ting. A group of four ponies entered chatting exitedly about the dance at their school next week.

Mel hurried into the back grab a cup of Hot Chocolate. Although Rainbook's mood troubled her. Perhaps adding some extra whipped cream with a cherry on top would cheer the book loving pony up! Tink Tink! The bell chimed. "Oh goody another customer!" Mel said, lifting the cup of steaming hot chocolate with her magic. "Here you go Rainbooks! I even added a little something extra!" Mel said happily. She then turned to Blue moon. "Hello there! You lookin for some fresh Cocoa? Or perhaps some pastries?"

( Great pic! ) Airshard stomped into the cafe just behind the four young and rather anoying school ponys. With each step she halted and shivered, ice forming of her black legs and her blue-green mane and tail, along with the blue glass shards that were aranged in them, were half frozen. She had come into the cafe out of sheer desperation. It was rather anoying being an unsocial, irritated, nomadic, angry, bitter pegasis at times, but it was her life and she had to deal with it. " Go me, " the pony muttered as she shivered up to the cash register. " Something . . . hot ," Air said angrily through gritted teeth and wondered why on Equestria she had stayed in this part of the country till it was winter.

''so whoooo are you going to ask out Rico?'' said a ponys with blue zig-zaggy hair. ''I told you Quick Draw. I HAVE NO IDEA!'' said a white pony with spi.cky black hair and a red scarf tied around his leaft hoof and the same shade of red on a head band.

Airshard glared quickly at the bronys, her pulse rising. Ttt! School ponys! Air rembered the days when she herself had still been in school . . . before she had been kicked out for " bad conduct ." " I only punched him once or . . . maybe five times . . . ," the pegasis thought, her teeth chattering.

''yum! it smells so good it here! I hope they have cheese cake!'' said QD. ''And cookies'' said an orangie-yellowish pony with dark orange colored hair dipped in blue and her mane held a feather that looked like ice. ''OR FALSE MUSTACHES!'' said a very very hyper pony that was pink with brown curly hair, with her mane tied back in a pony tail. ALL the ponies in the shop just stared at her. ''What? I like mustaches.'' said Diana.

She then noticed the green pony . . . with . . . " Antlers? " Air muttered, eyeing the peculiar equine. What an odd sight, aswell as stressful. Her presence ment more waiting time! Airshard clamped her chattering jaws shut and stood stilll, looking straight ahead. Other ponys were looking at her . . . What if they wanted a conversasion?! The pegasis tapped her hoof on the ground. " I really shouldn't have come in! ," the black equine thought, ignoring everything that didn't haveto do with what was right infront of her. " Uuuugh! "

(by the way the pony with the ice like feather in her hair is Double Sketch or Sketchy)

Just as the other ponynwas about to order Mel was distracted by the crash of a hoof on her counter. "Something Hot." Mel was slightly disturbed by the rude and blunt attitude of the ruffled looking pegasus. "Oh, yes...of course" She said forcing a smile. Walking to the back she prepared a cup of Hot chocolate, and added some extra marshmellows. Perhaps this could brighten the dark mood of the mild mannered pegasus. "Here you go mam." She said as she approached Airshard and handed her the sweet liquid. "Uhh...we have some extra scarves in the back. You look kind of cold."

"OR FALSE MUSTACHES!" A young school pony shouted out. Mel sighed, This really wasn't her day was it. She disliked loud ponies. They were quite a nuisanse.

"I would like some Cocoa please!" Bluemoon said cheerfully. Even though she was in a bad mood, she smiled and waved to both unicorns. She flew over to the table where Rainbook was sitting at. "May I sit here?" She asked.

Neon Flare flew to the cafe shoppe (watever its called). After a long day of DJing mixes for her new album, she needed to take a little break. When she stepped into the cafe, she felt the bursy of warm air flowing inside of her. Her horn and wings practicly covered with icicles. "Afternoon, Mel!" Neon Flare said with enthusiasim. "Cold day, isnt it?"

As the group of four waited in line Diana was talking non-stop ''so Rico when is the Japan Food Place opening? you know the one your dad owns? what kind of shushie will there be? HEY! quick draw when is my request done? how does it look? MEL! can i have some cocoa please?''

Answering to diana's question Rico replied ''next week monday, yes, all kinds.''
QD replied to diana's question. She said ''not yet, it's looking great.''

(Im a tomboy so I'll be a mare I haven't watched MLP for a while... And I've been doing Warriors RPs so I might not be good at MLP RPs :P)
A mare waited in line with all the other ponies, "I wonder what it's like in there." He said shyly to himself as he looked to see how many people were in front of him. "I hope I look good!" The mare said, he straigtened his crooked tie.

Airshard quickly nodded; her version of a " thank you ", and she stiffly walked to one of the empty tables in the corner. Air took a small sip of the steaming beverage. It scolded her tongue, but she didn't care! The black pegasis gulped down the hot coco like a pony dying of thirst and, after drinking the whole mug without stopping, she slammed the empty cup down on the table, turning a head or two. The equine's mouth felt like it had been burnt in a bondfire, but the coco had been so . . . warming! Airshard sighed with a hint of relief as her extremitys warmed and the ice that plagued her body melted into cool water. " Finaly! " With that Air reached for the marshmallows that filled a small cup in the middle of the table, but somepony sna.tched the sweers up. Air's hoof twitched, anger rising in her chest like a tsunami. The pony looked up slowly at the equine whom had done the deed and narrowed her eyes slightly. " No! Please! You first! Take the entire cup! I don't mind in the slightest! " She said this sarcasticly, looking at them in they eye all the while. " Infact ," she continued. " why don't you have a seat?! " Air pulled the pony onto the opposing chair and looked long and hard at them. " Well?! Your the one who got yourself into this mess! Start talking . . . please! "

"YAY!'' said Diana as she could not wait for anything in her life. All the other ponies in the group face palmed at almost the same time. [XD]

''yo! Mel howz da cocoa coming?'' said double sketch.

JayJay finally got inside the cafe. He found an empty seat at a table were four other ponies sat, "H-Hi, is this seat taken?" The mare asked politly and quietly. (He's talking to you Fanged Warrior.)

(i know) ''nope, not at all, nada, nein'' said the four altogether.

Mel nodded to Neon "Yes in more ways than one!" She exclaimed rushing to the back of the shop and grabbing two more mugs of Cocoa. "Please be patient she said, stress aparent in her voice as she heard the ponies asking about their drinks. She gave one of the steaming mugs to Double Sketch and the other to Blue moon who was sitting beside Rainbooks. Although a scene was unfolding in front of her. The school ponies had managed to pi.ss off Airshard. Mel dropped her smile and walked out from behind the counter. "Alright! Alright! What is this fighting about!?" She said trying to keep calm.

"Okay." JayJay sat down, looking around at how many ponies were here, "This place is booked..." He mumbled. He went to order his cocoa, "Extra sugar and marshmellows. And a
slice of strawberry short cake!" He smiled as he ordered his snack. The pony nodded and returned a few minutes later with his cake and cocoa, "Yum!" JayJay licked his lips.

Diana kept on talking and talking. ''so where are we going after this? can we go talk to your dad Rico? so when are we go-'' she was cut off when the other three yeld together ''SHUT UP DIANA!''

''k'' she mumbled.

"Come on guys be nice! Say it like this, 'Diane PLEASE shut up!'" JayJay yelled, taking a small bite from his cake.

Airshard opened her mouth to speak to the coco-brown shop owner when a pony scre'amd for them to " SHUT UP ", as they had put it. Air stood up abruptly, looking at the green pony with her jaw open. " What ," she asked, slowly walking toward her and tilting her head, the shards of glass glittering the light. " Your sorry?! I must apologise to you, dear! I'm afraid that " sorry " doesn't always cut it! Life doesn't work that way! " The equine through some money onto the counter, enough for ten cups of coco and said over her shoulder to Mel: " six cups of coco for myself and this mare . . . , please! You ," the pegasis said, turning to the green pony again. " have guts! Especialy when talking like that to everypony here! Ha! If I wasn't so impressed, I would've ran you into the cafe floor! " She chuckled, laughing at her own peculiar humor.

" You can certainly help me! Sit and have coco . . . or you'll be the one paying for it. " Airshard gave the pony a peculiar look and sat back down, pulling out a myth about Ersaminors.

Rainbooks smiled warmly at Mellow Heart once the hot chocolate was ready. /Omg extra whipped cream! I LOVE whipped cream./ the mare thought to herself. It was very childish, but the white unicorn hadn't stopped liking the creamy goodness since her colthood. Suddenly a group of four noisy schoolmares came, chatting and yelling. Rainbooks silently sighed. Wasn't her day, was it? But as her sensitive ears twitched in annoyance, another pony came at her table, asking for a seat. "Sure, it's not taken!" Rainbooks replied, forcing a smile.

Bluemoon noticed the pony's smile. "having a bad day also?" she sighed and sat down. She stared at the students. /So loud/ she whispered to herself. Then she turned to the white unicorn drinking the cocoa.

JayJay ate the last of his cake, his striped tie was covered in wip cream and hot cocoa stains, "Well that's thirty dollars I'll never get back." The stallion groaned

(I'll draw my character later) Nightgem stood up from the corner of the café. "See?" She grumbled to herself,"This is why I come early!" She quietly thanked Mel for the cake and cocoa, and trotted away. When she reached for the door, and tugged it, it wouldn't open. She tried using her horn, and that wouldn't work either. She used all her energy, and finally, the door opened. A gust of cold air blew in, and closed the door again. Nightgem turned around and blew her windswept black mane out of her eyes. "Looks like I'm trapped in this madhouse," Nightgem grumpily said.

JayJay looked at the mare trying to open the door and laughed a bit. He trotted over to her and opened the door with his wing, "Here you go." JayJay said nicely, "I can help you carry that, if you want?" He volunteered.

Nightgem angrily huffed at the intruding pegasus. "Excuse me, but I can handle it by myself! Anyways, I live close by." She opened the door, and slammed it behind her. JayJay sighed. "I was trying to help and she gave me attitude," he muttered. Mel trotted over to him. "Don't worry," she said soothingly,"The weather is just affecting everyone's mood," She then looked at the bouncing pink pony and hastily said,"except for that one."

"It's getting dark! Want me to walk you home miss?" JayJay asked the unknown mare. "You said you don't live far but I don't like seeing a mare go somewhere alone, especially when it's dark out." He walked after her slowly, waiting for her answer.

"Yeah. Studies are going up my mind, and SOME MARES aren't making it better." Rainbooks lifted her voice a little when she said those two words giving a quick annoyed glare at the schoolmares. "So, how was your da--" Rainbooks began, but she was cut off by a door slam. "What a way to show everypony you're leaving." the white unicorn grumbled.

Mel took a deep breath and closed her eyes for a moment. Then she opened them with a smile. "I'm fine! Let me fetch your drink." She said with a cheerful voice, although this was an extreme strain to pull off. She walked into the kitchen and stirred the huge pot of Hot chocolate, and then poured two glasses. One for herself and one for the emerald pony. "Here you go Vineheart, enjoy." She said with a weak smile. Suddenly there was a slam of the door. The bell chimed loudly, almost omniously. A beautiful black pegasus and her coltfriend stepped in "Why if it isn't little old Mel." Mel's eye widened in horror although she held a shaky grin on her face. "Oh...Hey Night Breeze, hey Golden Blaze...." Mel said with fearful hesitation. Night flipped her mane and then gave Mel a look up and down. "I am suprised there are any ponies hanging out in this dreadful, disgusting establishment! Especially since it's run by a loser like you..." Night said with a disapproving scan of the room. She then flipped the cup of hot cocoa out of Mel's magic grasp and all over her chocolate colored mane. Tears formed in Mel's eyes."Goldy aren't you glad you broke up with this weirdo!"
"Of course! What was I thinking dating such an freakishly ugly mare!" He said with a chuckle.
"Look out! She might turn you into stone!" Night replied shielding her eyes.
Mel felt herself shaking.
"Later loser!" Night said with a smirk. Golden burst out laughing and they both trotted out of the cafe. Mel stood there for a moment. Frozen..."Mel? Are you alright?" Somepony asked but Mel simply turned around, and run behind the counter and into her room. Sinking into her bed, she began to sob uncontrollably. Night had always t0rtured her...and then she changed the once sweet Golden into an absolute jerk! Why did that pegasus hate her so much! What did she do wrong! Tears soaked the sheets in front of her. And the hot choco had burned her skin. It stung now, just like her tears stung her eyes.

Rainbooks saw it all. Judging by Vineheart's attempt at talking to Melody Heart, it was no use knowing on the mare's door. The white unicorn got up, drank the last of her hot chocolate, excused herself to Bluemoon and ran outside. It was clear the pegasi were winning; but there was no backing away. "Vine, we can teach 'em. We can do this." Rainbooks whispered just loud enough for her new friend to hear. The white mare stepped beside the green pony, facing the two pegasi. "You hurt Mellow! You had no right to do so! Apologize! Now." Rainbooks declared in her most confident tone. The cold stung at her legs, but she couldn't afford to look weak. "N-Now!" the unicorn repeated, teeth chattering.

As soon as Neon Flare picked up her hot cocoa, her magic angrily put it down on a table. She had seen both of those ponies t.or.ture Mel like that, so she stormed outside. She flew and landed right in front of the couple and angrily pushed them. "Apologize.....now u jerks..." They just scoffed at her. Neon's eyes filled with rage. "NOW I SAID! Or I will mess up those little pretty faces of urs!"

When Vine first stepped outside the two mean pegasi began laughing. But then two other ponies came out of the cafe. Neon Flare and Rainbooks. They were outnumbered. Night's smirk turned to a sneer. Although Gold looked less confident. "Tch! Fine, Sorry loser!" Night said. One of the ponies charged at her, But she and gold simply did a vertical take off, and flew away.

Mel shook herself mentally. "You have paying customers that need you!" She said to herself. She got up, and washed her cocoa covered face. She then brushed out her mane and straightened her scarf. Everything would be alright... Finally she opened her door and went over to prepare a fresh batch of Cocoa.

From outside the store, Nightgem silently watched through the window of the shop. The two ponies... she's seen them before. Where? Then with a heavy heart she remembered school. She sighed and softly said,"I'm glad I left them all those years ago," Oblivious to the fact that JayJay was following her, she was surprised when he said,"You know those jerks!?" Nightgem whirled around in surprise, nearly dropping her bag of goodies. "It's not what you think! I left them many years ago!"

"So you do know them?" He asked her, picking the goodies up for her. "It's okay if you know them, but if you're friends with them then you are a... jerk." He ended the sentence in a whisper, "Um I'll carry these for you." JayJay volunterred, slowly following after her with the bag.

"Don't worry," Nightgem assured JayJay, "I realized early enough that being popular isn't worth being a jerk. And that sort of gives me an advantage... An advantage! I can help Mel out!" Nightgem raced into the shop, knocking JayJay over in the process. "Sorry!" She called over her shoulder. When she skidded into the shop she called for Mel impatiently. When Mel stuck her head out of the cocoa making room, Nightgem whispered quietly, "I can help you make a fool out of those nerds," she didn't wait for a response from Mel. "Just challenge them that they can't do a better job than you. If they start backing out, call them a chicken! Not only will you show them who boss, your shop will also gain reputation."

"Ow! Someone's in a hurry!" He got to his hooves and shook dust of his mane, "Oh, she left her goodies!" JayJay picked up the bag and trotted into the cafe, "Um you dropped this." He dropped the bag on the counter, "See you around!" He walked out the cafe and headed home.

Not long after, the pegasus returned to his home, a tree house. He went to his couch, grabbed the remote with his wing, and watched a movie. "Wow that cafe had some good cocoa!" He smiled, "Im gonna go get some more to bring home. He opened his wings and flew off.
When JayJay entered the cafe it was almost midnight. Most of the ponies either were leaving or already left. He walked to the counter and asked, "Do you have chocolate chip cookies?"

"It's fine Vine, I would never expect you to." Mel said as she came out with another cup and handed it to Vine. "I figured you might be cold." She said. Then she turned to Nightgem (Not the bully) "That would make me just as mean as them!" Mel exclaimed.

Nightgem shrugged. "It would just give them a taste of their own medicine. But I won't force you. Everybody's helping you out. This is my way." She sighed, "Bye, Mel! No matter what, I'll always come to your café." She picked up her bag, and strolled home.

Rainbooks watched as the two bullies flew away. The unicorn could've used her magic to brings them back, but for some reason she didn't. "What jerks." Rainbooks muttered under her breath, entering the shop once more. The windchime still brought a smile to the mare's face, and so she trotted over to the counter where Mel stood. "Hey Mel, do you happen to have any brownies at the moment? I crave some kind of treat but I'm not sure what I really want... what would you suggest?" the white unicorn asked cheerfully.

Neon Flare watched the two pegasi fly away. Anger and rage filled within her. She cursed at them and stormed back into the cafe. Neon trotted right back up to Mel and told her, "We need to do something about those pegasi." Mel just looked behind her. "U cant just let them push u around like that!" Neon accidently spilled her cocoa. She used her magic to clean it all up and put it back in her mug. At this point, she didnt care if it was di.r.ty. She just needed to do something about those idiotic pegasi.

Back at Nightgem's home, (BTW I uploaded her picture) she was curling up with a nice book about magic while stroking her pet black cat, Dixie. The fireplace was crackling, a noise Nightgem liked to hear. All of a sudden, someone rang the doorbell, disturbing the peace of the night. "Who is it?" Nightgem called. There was no answer. "Maybe it was a delivery. But at this hour?" She used her magic to unlock the door. Standing behind it, were Night Breeze and Golden Blaze. "Quick!" Night said, " Let us come in!" "Why should I help you jerks? You tormented Mel! When I tell Neon Flare where you are-" Nightgem was cut short by the sound of yowls and hisses. "LEAVE MY CAT ALONE! I'm tired of you jerks. You are so low, you are tormenting a cat! Leave my house, and my life!" Nightgem pushed them out the door, and slammed the door behind her. In her mind, she resolved that she would wait for an hour for them to leave. Then she would go straight to the cafe, and tell everyone what happened.

the school ponies just stared amazed of what courage the others had. Diana yawned then left cause she was tiered. ''see you...'' she nearly bonked into the sighn that read 'today's treat'. Rico face palmed hi,self after Diana left because sketchy and QD were bickering again who was a better artist. ''i am!'' sketcy would say. ''NO! me!'' QD would say and so fourth. they left bickering about art and the mean ponies who had entered the shop before. now he was the only one in it exept for mel. (Rico is an unicorn just you can not tell 'cause his hair is covering his horn.) Rico walked to the back of the store. ''mel?''he asked shyly.

All of a sudden, they door burst open with a rush of cold air. Standing at the doorway, was Nightgem. "I have some good news! Well... sort of," She exclaimed. She looked around the store for Mel. She trotted over to Rico, trying to ignore the bickering ponies. "Do you know where Mel is? I need to talk to her."

(She is about :/ 23?) (Also Rainbooks, Mel, Vineheart, and Neon Flare are in the shop as well not just Rico) Mel nodded yes, we have some wonderful brownies that I am sure you will love." She said with a weak smile. Carefully she pulled out a nicely sized one and gently placed it in front of Rainbook. "Here you go! Enjoy!" She said perkily. "Mel?" Mel turned around to see a stallion with a long mane. He had been with the school ponies earlier..."Yes?" She said with a questioning look. Suddenly Nightgem burst through the doors of her shop. "Woah! What's going on?" Mel asked, forgetting about Rico for a moment.

"Oh there you are! Hidden in plain sight!" Nightgem was gasping for air. She was exhausted after running so fast. Mel noticed her condition. "How about you have a seat," she said. Nightgem nodded gratefully, too breathless to speak. Anyways, she was about to say a lot. She took a deep breath, and choosing her wording carefully, she began. "Night and Golden won't be bothering you anymore. At least not for a while." "Why? What happened?" Mel asked. "Well, those stu.pid ponies went to MY house for 'protection'. Hah! They were just looking for someone else to torment. And they found it." Mel looked around for tear stains on Nightgem's snout or anything that showed signs of verbal torment. There were none. Nightgem still continued. "They didn't torment me. They pushed around my cat, Dixie! And while I was talking to them too. How rude! Anyways, that's when I blew a fuse and I pushed them out of my house, and slammed it behind them. They probably ran, squealing for help like little colts. Anyways, they won't be bothering you anymore. Not with me around." Nightgem finished her story. She knew how sensitive Mel was about rudeness or mean acts. She hoped that she would be glad, and thank her (and maybe even get hot cocoa free for one day!).
But when she tried to help Mel before, it didn't turn out well. It was taking a long time for Mel to answer. Nightgem silently waited for a response

''um, i was wondering if you want some coupons for my dad's Sushi Shop down the street.'' said Rico holding up the 5 coupons with his magic.

''my dads says i have to do some avertiseing weather i like it or not.'' said Rico looking at hid hoofs. when night gem had burst in he stared in disbelif as how fast the pony came in.

When Rico looked back at Mel he added with a smile ''don't worry! we won't steal your business!''
