How come in Smash your running A is a (gawd-awful) slide kick... and not the ONLY attack that you know in any other game?

I will never....ever get over that. I get that itd make him faster, but it could be veeeerrry brief, it wouldnt have to be like in dkc. And he could infact move in place sorta, but it could have a drawing in effect like gdorfs splode kick and etc. god damit...SAKUUUURRRAAAAAAAAAAAIIII

I don't think that DK moving just a tad faster for one attack would really do anything to his game, let alone make him OP. :/
