Sunny, the Horse Who Almost Made It by Dark Sky
About a year ago, an old, skeletal gelding was brought to the stables where I ride. He'd been trapped in a stall, neglected and starved. No one thought he'd make it. But my sister, mom, and I started walking him, building up his muscles, and soon it was like he was our horse. He came so far that winter, but this spring, his leg started to fail him. We started buying him food that would hopefully regain his strength. But yesterday he fell and couldn't get up...
We're getting a lock of his tail.

I know this isn't very good (especially the 3D), but this wasn't made for quality. It was made for remembrance of Sunny.

I know, right? Sunny was trapped in a stall for at least a year most likely with only hay to eat because his owner stopped coming to take care of him. What's worse is that the stable owner let all that time pass before talking Sunny's owner into giving him away. The owners of my riding stable took him because they knew him from a rodeo (he was a pick up horse). But actually, that whole mess got us six of our cats (two off the side of the road, four from the stables (that's a whole other story!)). I'm not religious, but I'm sure that if Sunny's spirit is somewhere else, it's in a land full of carrots :D He loved those!

i miss him soooooo much... :(
there will never be another horse like sunny, but at least we'll always have wonderful memories of him.
I think this painting is great, by the way. :)
