But his knees hurt from crouching so long and his back began to hurt as well. She had said to keep it to a minimum. Oh no no no, he couldn't. It was not an option, because this safe had to be opened /tonight./ It was his obligation. To not open the box would mean to lock his fate in a box of chaos! Like Pandoras' box, right? Patience and a steady hand; simple requirements.

There was a lit lantern in the distance waving back and forth in the corner of his eye. Unimportant. Click. One number down, who-knows-how-many left to go. He was growing... warm. A very uncomfortable warm. He raised his second hand to grab his collar and release some of the heat. Only one number down, only one number down, only-

"Sire," Acronym was caught off guard as he flinched, only to lose balance, and fell onto his back. He grew more hot as the dull pain formed in the back of his head. The strange dog only looked blankly down at him.

"Sire, you should really return to your bedroom at a time like this." it had said quietly.
"Oh really? Maybe you should return and see how that feels!" he sat up and stared up at the dog's lanternlit face.
"I only work to serve you, Sire. Please do not take this piece of advice as me trying to spite you."
"Ok, since you are serving me; I wish for you to leave. Or, or, or, better yet, tell me the combination to this safe!" His hands were twitching vioIently and he ground his teeth together in frustration.

"Please Sire, loosen your jaw. I cannot preform either of your wishes." the dog kneeled down to get a better look.
"You... should tell me why." his jaw relaxed, but the pulsing was becoming ever so strronger. He put one hand to his neck to knead the sore muscle.
"The safe won't open for anyone and I was given orders to send you to bed." It still didn't show any sort of emotion. It was astonishing almost. He wondered how- wait.
"You were given orders? You know who I am. You, you know full /well/ who I am." he stood up, simultaneously as the dog.
The dog looked at the wall behind the prince.
"Yes, I am fully aware of your position Sire."

"Okay. Now, do you see this knife in my hand?" This would be a moment where he would smile, but the pounding, the /pulsing/ pained him deeper and deeper with each moment. The prince was not adept at frowning as it was not in his purpose. Instead, his face lost all life except his eyes. He must have looked insane. Then the dog started appear fearful as it continued to stare at the stone wall.

He bit his lip as he approached the dog with his knife raised. He could end this, right here right now. No one would suspect, no one would. All it would need is a few white lies sprinkled here and there. Oh, what would he really do?! This dog's devotion angered him, outraged him! He simply threw down the knife and shoved the dog forcefully into the wall before walking away barefoot on the cold hard stone. "I'm going to bed!" he yelled out awkwardly, grabbing his elbows and looking forward to avoid seeing that dog.
