The Shadow was created in the 30's. Original radio dramas were voiced by Orson Wells, who later voiced Unicron on the Transformers movie shortly before he passed away.

oh! that makes sense. i listened to a few episodes on decoder ring theatre (they remade ssome) and it was pretty interesting! nice drawing!
