Yeru-Khavi: Fairy Tail Entry by Larka

For countless generations the natives of the Sunda Isles (an group of islands west of New Guinea) have told dark tales of the monster they call Yeru-Khavi. In their tongue the name means "Civet of Ghosts", named after it's eatting habits and physical features. The creature lurks in the dark forest depths of the island, hiding in deep underground burrows during the day. At night it comes to the surface and swings it's bioluminesent tail wildly through the air......

(Continued) As it swings it's tail it creates a bright blue aura, and this aura attracts potential prey. It sings out calmly, a lovely siren like song, and many are fooled into believing that what they see is actually a playful fairy. When potential prey approaches, the monster leaps forward and overpowers the victem. The creature then uses it's sponge like tongue and literally drinks it's prey alive, draining them of nearly all water. Victems are then left to slowly expire, nothing more then living mummies to weak to call for help. Locals also believe that it also drinks their spirits, and that the glowing lights of it's tail are the ghosts of it's victems. It is said that you can protect yourself by carrying beach sand in a small bag. The natives say that the smell of the ocean sand reminds the ghosts of their past lives, and causes them to turn against the monster and drive it back into it's lair. Some say that the monster absorbs the intelligance of it's prey, and that the oldest of the creatures are as cunning as a human.

Oh that's freaky. Good thing I just happened to have randomly acquired a small bag of beach sand just like five seconds ago so yeah. I'm safe.
