TURN ON 3D AND READ THIS:
the closest and largest moon of 2013 will come june twenty third. at this time the moon gets bigger, it is closest to earth at this time so to us it looks bigger and we call it super moon. here on the right you see the normal moon and on the left you see the super moon. it only comes three times a year and this one is the biggest. so if you want to see the super moon go outside at nignt and look for it or go online and look at pics.i hope you guys dont miss this

I love the moon (I'm an Astronomer).
There are a number of theories as to what causes the super moon. My favourite is the flat dome theory where the human brain sees the sky as a squashed dome rather than a full dome, so we think the moon is further when it is closer to the horizon. Sadly, the view through a telescope remains unchanged.
