Ghost is often not seen fully exposed like this, as he would rather just be cloaked, even when not on the job.
He knew Maricella ever since she was a zoroa. They trusted each other. Or so he thought... Then later in life Maricella tried to dispose of him, she had put too much trust into another pokemon. She needed to remove the evidence. Luckily he escaped, but with a physical and mental scar. Now he trusts nobody and is his own pokemon.
So nothing like this will happen again.
