I and a few of my friends use it when we're waiting for something we really want or an event we wish to be in. It's also one of Cali's infamous terms in lingo for surfers, frat boys and pigeons that is still today commonly used amongst the populace. :v Wak wak. I eagerly await while staring at my preorder receipt.
