Sparkins by Inkdark

Sparkins are my idea for a common ancestor for #fiends, #glowans, and #smoldians. Millions of years ago, they lived in a cold network of caves, and so developed bioluminescence that gave off intense heat. Some of them moved aboveground and lost the need to glow, evolving away the bioluminescence in favor of straight-out fire. Some moved to warmer parts of the tunnels with fewer predators, and lost the need for the excess heat and horns, gaining glowy antennae instead. (cont. in comment)

Some moved into the deepest darkest parts of the tunnels. They evolved away their tails and gained another set of ears, and bioluminescence all over their bodies. The extra glowing generated excess heat in their whole bodies, so they became able to vent it out, sometimes in the form of fire.

Yes, perfect.
Though I suppose they'd be white at first, living in a cold area and such? I dunno, this is great either way!
(although, glowans do have fur covering their tails, so... they may have moved into a warmer place at first, then lost their heat attribute, THEN the climate changed and got colder! So they made themselves better clothing, while the tail started getting more fur on it. And yeah, the predator-less thing sounds about right.)

And that glowy tailend is pretty much exactly what I had in mind for this ancestor.

Yayyy, our species are now officially c.onnected by weird glowy alien neanderthals

If only there was a way to relate travians to them somehow
