Simple. since the 3DS's 3D effect crosses two screens left and right. it creates a duplicate. same as crossing your eyes while looking at a pencil. still amazing nonetheless

I know this is too long, but the 3d on the 3ds is made to take advantage of our 2 eyes. If you close one eye and look at this, and open then close the other, you can see the 2 different images projected at different angles.
