:D It's fun! Though I used to be really bad at drawing backgrounds, I worked at it until I didn't hate my BG art anymore. Still working to improve them!

Avalon: I gotta say, this lighting does make you look pretty great! Me? Not so much!

Avalon: *He blushes slightly and frantically shakes his head in an effort to stop the budding red on his face.* W-well let's go check it out, then! Heh. Might find something cool!

Avalon: *The surfer Pikachu gives a vigorous nod as a smile fills his face. He stands up on the tips of his toes and points to a nearby rocky cliff.*
It's almost low-tide, so I say let's go see the Hidden Cave first!
*With a twitch of an ear, Avalon leads the way to the cliff and the revealed cave. Inside, a small amount of sunlight reaches deep enough to strike the walls of the cave. The numerous colored gems embedded in the walls catch the rays vividly and fills the darkness with dancing colors.*
This is one of my favorite places to hang, and kinda secretive to boot!

Avalon: Of course! Sometimes you can find loose sparklies in the walls... Let's check!
*His blue eyes focus on the nearby cave wall for a few moments, then with a sharp cry he charges towards it with impossible speed. Just before impacting the wall with his face, he spins and slams his iron-hard tail against the wall. The cave shakes slightly, and Avalon holds out a paw to catch a beautiful sapphire before it hits the ground. With a lopsided grin he offers it to Pika-chan as he speaks.*
Here! Though it's not as beautiful as you,I hope it's still good enough.
*Avalon waggles an eyebrow as he talks, to show that his flirting is meant to be in jest.*

Avalon: This cave goes in a lot deeper, but honestly I dunno how deep it really is. I don't do a lot of explorin' alone...
*He pauses for a moment, as if supressing a painful memory, then he smiles wide and focuses all of his attention on Pika-chan.*
But I'm itchin' to check it out now! Got my curiosity all perked up! Shall we, m'lady?
*Avalon bends at the waist and bows low with his last sentence, though his composure quickly dissolves into a laugh.*

Avalon: Whoah! Haha!
*Pika-chan's eager paw-pulling caught him by surprise, but he recovered quick enough to avoid tripping and being dragged.*
Guardian, huh? Come to think of it, I do hear strange noises some nights comin' from deep inside... Wait!
*Stopping short and halting Pika-chan in the process, his ears stood up straight. Sure enough, he heard the sound of scraping again come from beyond a turn of the cave tunnel. It sounded like something big was headed closer towards them.*
I've been here before so I know this isn't the deepest part of the cave... Get ready! We might have to fight!
*He stood right beside Pika-chan, his body tense and waiting for whatever was around the bend. The noise sounded again, announcing the appearance of an Onyx. Though it was small for an Onyx, it still towered over the two Pikachus. Its body sparkled with the same brilliance as the walls, telling Avalon that this Onyx was comprised of the same minerals as the rich gems in the walls.*
Gem Onyx: *Releases a massive roar that rattles the gem-encrusted walls.*
(footnote: Not meant to be the Guardian yet! Just the first challenge for our two heroes!)

Avalon: *He glances at Pika-chan long enough to give a nod, then he hurls himself towards the glittering Onyx. Spinning in midair, he delivered a precise Iron Tail against the Onyx's face. The blow didn't phaze the Onyx, which retaliated by hurling a piece of the rocky floor straight at the surfer Pikachu. Avalon moved to dodge, but he underestimated the size of the jagged boulder and it tore a gash in his right arm. He hissed with pain while gripping the fresh wound, never taking his eyes off of the Onyx. Its eyes narrowed dangerously as its tail bore into the wall to rip out another boulder. Its attention was locked on Avalon, which was just what he wanted. With every breath he had, Avalon swore that he would not lose another friend!*
Pika-chan, please be careful! The body of that Onyx is stronger than normal!

Avalon: Weaken it... I know just the thing for a rock!
*A faint blue glow began to surround Avalon's body as he gathered power. He took a step backwards and said to Pika-chan, *
Get ready to deliver the final blow!
*The glow intensified more and more, then Avalon lunged forward. As he moved, the glow around his body stretched out behind him and materialized into a torrent of roaring water. Surprise filled the eyes of the Onyx as Avalon's powerful but precisely controlled Surf attack came right at it. The Onyx helplessly tried to rear up, but its head smashed against the cave tunnel's ceiling right before Avalon's attack landed. The Onyx was left wobbling in the wake of the blow and it wouldn't take much more to topple it.*
