Well, if YOU want to do something, I´d recommend buying a WiiU.
Nintendo doesn´t want to spend money on the online services of a dying console and encourage you to buy a new one. And if I remember correctly, pretty much all the features you named were improved upon :P

Well, the thing is, the Wii and DS/DSi are last gen consoles. They'll have to shut down the online services for them, because the old consoles are dying. They need to make room for the new online services for the Wii U and 3DS. It really is dissapointing, but there's a good reason they're shutting a lot of things down. :c

From what I have gathered, Nintendo are trying to save a bit on money at the momment so they are shutting down a few services. This is because they released to many consoles at a bad time, just before Sony and Microsoft anounced that they would reveal their new consoles.
If my guess is right, as Nintendo's sales have rocketed since the Xbox One was anounced (and new, disapointing news coming out regularly), they should have enough money to stop closing services. I hope.

I think we should get as many people as possible to draw something about why they shouldn't shut stuff down we should all tag it #stopshutdown because that's the one I've seen most of! What they did was really unfair...

Eh, I already have a Wii U and it basically has all the communication features of its predecessor.

Well, the WiiU didn´t sell well thus far and the 3ds sold okay but not spectacular.
Paying for servers to keep the online services alive is incredibly expensive and they had to invest a lot of money into new console launches and game developments.
At the end, all of these services would have to be shut down sooner or later anyway, it´s a bit like complaining that Smash Bros U. wont be released on Wii just because you dont want to bother buying a WiiU. It´s just how the gaming industry works, because it is based on constant renewal and technological advancement.
But don´t say they only care for the money, they need the money to pay for all these services and developments and can´t just dump a lot of money into services that got or will get replaced by something better anyway :/

It really sucks that everything has to shut down, but its true-- they have to save money. Yeah, they may seem super rich, but their projects are super expensive. They probably assume that you'll just find a better way to do things on Wii U. But, hey, Nintendo! I have an idea! Stop blowing your money on constant Mario games! Doesn't Mario have enough? xD But still, though. All this shutting things down isn't fun, and I won't get to watch Fullmetal Alchemist on the Wii with my sister anymore, but I don't think theres much we can do about it.

Personaly, i feel just the same as you nya-nya. I have a Wii just aswell. I flipped out when I heard about this sh!tting nonsense. If you take my advice, i would right a letter of demandment saying about this protest against the Wii and you want it to stay on buisness! (that's what i would do, but it's open for everyone else.)

Nintendo isn't a god. They love their customers, more than Microsoft and Sony together. I dunno your situation, but they won't stop shutting the channels down. Don't worry, if you get a Wii U, even in a couple years, it'll be 10 times better. Swapnote ain't going for a goog 3 or 4 years.

0o0 ouch hey hey wait a minute! no matter what nintendo does im never gonna just flat out say they suck in general. some of the things they do may be hard on fans and other countries. but i've always stuck with nintendo systems. never even once thought that Microsoft might be better than Nintendo. Nintendo comes out with some incredible things. You just have to keep updated. shoot for the WiiU. yeah, its expensive. yeah, the games are overpriced and there arent alot of selections yet. But the Console has HUGE potential! replacing past consoles is just the way of a gamers life. gen after gen. nintendo is still working on improoving. they need to move forward in order to do that.

You have tons and other means of modern telecommunication btw, many of them far, FAR better than any Wii-messaging messaging board.
Don´t live in the past because it´s comfortable and don´t expect to get Nintendo´s full support if you stop buying thier products.
This is the third console generation I´ve actively seen pass by and as a general rule, if you don´t want to upgrade your consoles, of course you still can play the games they produced but don´t expect to actively take part in the company´s life anymore.
And the Wii was technichally outdated as it was released anyway.
Sorry if my comments seem cold or harsh, I just don´t want to see you this mad and sad at something.

whoever and Victor: Nintendo is the best company ever. they makes the best consoles and video games! I'm mad after them because I love the wii because of its channels and the message board. it's my favorite console (with the 3DS of course!UvU) because of this. and they are gonna shut everything I like in the wii. lol every channels will shut except for the wii ware, the only channel that you must pay... I know the wii is an old console, I must buy a wiiU, blah blah blah... seriously, in France it's around $ 290. I can't buy one! if I would have one, it would be as a present. i have a WiiU :3 it has a Wii menu and lets u play wii games. The only thing i dont like about it so far is that u cant play gamecube games on it. i hope they bring some out on the eShop

flipnote dropped their contract with nintendo and now nintendo owns the rights to flipnote. plus flipnote wasnt even that good of an animating app anyways. go buy a tablet and flash for around 80 bucks if you want to keep animating.
as for the wii channels... with all this new stuff coming out who plays the wii anymore? the apps you have they really cannot shut down. you still have them.
i agree with the part about them being greedy (on fn3d you have to pay for everytime you leave comments what is up with that thats like paying to flush a toilet) but you really cant stop them :/

also it really wasnt nintendo's idea hatena and nintendo had an agreement. flipnote dropped the contract and nintendo got the rights to flipnote hatena. all the other hatena sites are still up though.

Honestly im glad they took down hatena BECAUSE of all the nooby children and problems that came up. those who dant have a 3DS wont show and cause problems but there is the wave of them here on colors and will most likey show up there so its almost emminent for them to be there. For the good drawers/animators who dont have a 3DS, well then we shall mourn until they get one. Im just happy that most of the noob kids wont be there

You should also know that Nintendo only did this because they ccouldn't operate the two things(wii communication and wiiU communication) at tbe same time so easily, and the WiiU is their new console. They couldn't just shut THAT down, so they did it to the Wii. Also, the WiiU has lots of the same stuff that was on the Wii. You need to accept the facts. What you're doing will not work. idk most of the wii game stuff was pretty choppy especially brawl but the email system seems pretty reliable (idk just talking)

They are shooting down the Hatena server because they will introduce a new one. Geez, you can even upload your old animations to the new Hatena for the 3DS! (At least that's what I've red) And of course Nintendo will shoot down the Wii's channel's servers! Hell, it always happens! Their service is getting old, there's so many people who don't use it and they have to pay atention to their new console! So, this all is so usual for game companies. Wii is old. Wii U is new. New is better than old. Thats how it works! So, it is useless to cry for these things. You'll have to deal with it. In fact, this is a good lesson for your life: some things wont be like you want it to be.
