I honestly believe she was covering for someone.
Being an unmarried woman past her twenties, she was always looked down upon. So, I believe she had someone she admired, who mur.dered her parents (who some say hated her), and when things got bad she took the blame.
That, or I just like to think too far outside the box. XD
