As for shading i'm still kind of learning myself,the things i do are self taught lol.Anyway, if i can give any advise i say try to put as much detail as you can.For instance hair,drawing out the details before hand really helps when time to shade and for me i color starting with midtones first,the dark to add volume the ofcourse light for shine.
I'm definitly no pro but i hope that helped ^^
