sad story :( but awesome pic! :)

mother often had a very short temper, so she did not let any kits have milk that night. later at 6 moons old, River couldnt take it anymore, so he ran away from home, but he could not leave without Arrow. they ran away from the dark alley they lived in together.

just to let everyone know this is NOT an rp, im just telling a story.
(continued) Arrow and River traveled for quite a few moons, and no one came to look for them. so they traveled through forests and cities, looking for a place to call home or get friends, they didnt know. they just needed to get away. one day they ran into a forest filled with prey and bright green trees. 'this would be paradise!' exclaimed Arrow. 'maybe we should stop and make a living here. what do you think?' he asked. 'great idea,' River areed. 'i think i see a nice spot to make a den way, way over there.' River pointed with his tail far to the north, a fairly small cave with a large, old tree beside it. ferns and bushes were also nearby. now they just had to cross a small thunderpath in front of them. but River got so excited he crossed the thunderpath without looking for monsters (cars). a very large monster in particular was speeding his way! but River didnt see it. 'RIVER! get out of the way!' Arrow screeched. 'What?' River asked. he stopped in the middle of the thunder path and turned around. but then he noticed the monster a few fox-lengths from his face. he was frozen in horror, feet stuck to the ground. 'NO!! RIVER!' Arrow cried. the monster was only a fox-length away from River now. Arrow jumped at River, shoving him off the thunderpath, putting Arrow exactly where River had been frozen. 'ARROW!' River yowled. but it was too late. the monster ran over Arrow in the flash of a second. (continued)

Arrow lay crumpled on the ground not moving. everything was still. River bounded over to Arrow's body. 'Arrow, please, you'll be ok! please wake up!' he uselessly pleaded. silence. 'Arrow, please, you cant give up! dont leave me! what will i do? this place will never be paradise without you!' still silence. 'this is all my fault...' River whimpered. after Arrow's death River got depressed for a while and lived in 'paradise' for some seasons. even though prey was plentiful, he never felt like eating, even if he wasnt that sad. later on, River ran into a pretty light grey she-cat with bright blue eyes named Shell, and they fell in love. they had 3 kits: Cloud, (a white tom) Lily, (a black she-cat) and Snowflake (a grey and white she-cat).

later on one day, the kits were 3 moons old, the kits were sleeping, and River and Shell were relaxing, they heard a long, mean growl come up from behind. a fox! River quickly jumped to his feet to protect his family. 'get the kits away from here!' he told Shell. 'but i cant-' she started to protest. River lunged at the fox, claws unsheathed. but the fox swiftly dodged and ran straight toward the kits. Shell was still trying to wake them up and encourage them to go! while River was getting his balence, Shell turned around, and threw a blow at the fox. however this fox was very powerful and swatted her aside, giving a few scratches on Shell's cheek. now the fox was face-to-face with the kits. 'get away, you flea-pelt! no one hurts my family!' River spat at the fox. that didnt get his attention, and he grabbed cloud in his jaws. River, furious and fur fully puffed out, jumped on the fox's back, hanging on with his claws digging in the red fur. the fox quickly yelped in pain, causing himself to drop bloody Cloud. with a mighty force the fox swung River off. the fox quickly grabbed Lily and tried to run away, but his wounds greatly slowed him down. Lily squealed and squirmed in pain as the fox was crushing her with his jaws! (continued)

but Shell made a comeback and threw herself in front of him, instincts taking over. she swiped her claws across his eyes, blinding him badly. he dropped Lily and Shell tried to carry her away by her scruff even though she was already dead. but the fox was smart and lunged on Shell's back. He assumed where her neck was, and bit the back of it. unfortunately it was in the perfect place for a ******* bite. 'NO!!!' River, recovered, screeched. with all the power he had left in him, River pulled the fox back by his back leg with his teeth, startling him. when the fox turned around, River flung himself at the fox's neck biting it as hard as he could. unfortunately, his bite was a bit too far from his neck, not making it a ki.lling bite. the fox shrieked and clawed River's arm. River let go, gasping while the fox escaped. 'Shell? Shell! Cloud! Lily! Snowflake!' he yowled. (continued)

Snowfake's cry was the only thing he heard besides it starting to rain. Snowflake and River were the only ones who survived after the attack. River became depressed even longer than when his brother died. after burying everyone he and snowflake left the bloody place in search of a home to make happy memories, not sad ones. they found and lived in a different forest, with not as much prey, and a little closer to twolegs (humans). but now it was leaf-bare, and plenty of the cold snow was on the ground. now Snowflake was older, and normally she would live on her own now, but she and River lived together- there were too many deaths in their lives. but one day while there was still snow Snowflake started coughing. 'Are you ok?' River asked, concerned. if Snowflake got hurt he would do anything he could to protect her! 'No, im-*cough* er- fine.' she said, her voice dry. 'Are you sure?' 'Yes, i'm fine! quit worrying about me!' she said, annoyed. but after that she just got worse. it seemed like she coughed every 3 minutes! 'i think you might have greencough,' River eventually admitted. 'what's-*cough* that?' Snowflake asked. 'Chest problems, pretty much. it can get so bad it turns into blackcough, which can... er... hurt you. really bad.' River explained. he didnt really want to say 'k.ill' at the end after what they've been through. 'then i have nothing to fear, right? i mean, im sure the great and powerful Snowflake can take on anything!' Snowflake cheerfully meowed as she hopped on a little rock. but River just gave her a look of grief and sighed. (continued)

leaf bare would end soon, but there was still more snow to come. River and Snowflake were out hunting near twolegplace due to prey being scarce. unfortunately, snowflake was panting and growing weaker by the day. River tried to help her somehow, but he didnt know what herbs to use to cure her (like there were any in the first place). as River was thinking this, he suddenly saw Snowflake dizzily walk in a circle and faint. 'what the...?' River went over to her and saw that there was a sharp dart thing with a fluffy thing on the end of it in her side. Before River knew it, he felt a sharp pain in his back leg, and everthing went black. (continued)

River woke up in a dark, twolegplace room. there was some door in front of him with bars in it. River didnt like this at all! 'Snowflake! where are you?!' his eyes adjusted, and outside of his cell there were more with other cats meowing, 'please let me out! someone!' or 'i dont want to die!' and 'i hate the pound!' wait, the pound? River thought. he remembered hearing mother say once that the pound was a nasty place. animals go there and never come back. River gasped. he could die! Snowflake could die! he had so much anger fueled up inside him, he ran and banged into the bars as hard as he could as soon as he felt bood on his head. then he suddenly heard something crack in the bars! they seemed so rusty and old the door akwardly opened ajar. River sprinted out the door and down the hallway, cats yowling at him. he scented out Snowfake and found her in a cell a little far away from his. 'Snowflake! there you are! im going to help you escape! ...Snowflake?' she was lying on her side, eyes closed. her side wasnt moving. she was still. dead. he smelled the sickness overwelm her. oh no, River thought. she died of blackcough! but he smelled a twoleg coming his way, so he quickly hid behind a dusty cardboard box. he saw the twoleg open the cage, pick up the dead cat, and went out side. River followed her outside and found she buried Snowflake with a sad look on her face. she mumbled a few noises and went back inside. River looked down at snowflake's place and shed a few tears. but he moved on. River, after that, has tried several attepts to commit su!cide, but all have failed because of him being a coward. he wanders the streets to this day, searching for a real life.
