Katrina harnesses the power of wind and speed rivaling that of Rainbow Dash herself. With the aid of her power, #Katrina has the ability to create tornados, whether they be small or large scale, whether standing still or flying around. As a tornado physicist (a rather spunky one), she aims to study her mysterious ability in order to perfect and take better control of it. Due to the unpredictable nature of her synthetic windstorms, Katrina usually studies and forms them in desolate or open areas, free of civilians. Katrina can, however, create smaller, more concentrated blasts of air or even miniature whirlwinds in an emergency situation. Her spunky personality is a result of her old foalsitter who she claims was Princess Cadance, the only pony who could help her forget her parents unfortunate loss. Katrina is also, as a result of the accident that took her parents, quite vulnerable to guilt and other forms of emotional manipulation (pleading, fake crying, rejection), but not to the extent of disloyalty or abandoning any aquaintances. Her parents died when she was a foal, on a plane ride to their vacation spot for the summer. Katrina had virtually no control over her power and, in a fit of crying, formed an intense tornado, taking down the plane and everypony in it. Katrina was the only survivor, and has told very few ponies about the incident since. #mlpsifc

As for safety measures, Katrina sports a pair of goggles that cater specifically to her data collecting and eye protection needs. They have a wide range of uses, from detecting prime tornado conditions to night vision functions and even a work-in-progress "X-ray Vision" function for good measure. Katrina tends to put the "Fun-ctions" ahead of her "Important-ctions", as she calls them, in terms of priority. She also loves to make puns (mostly bad ones) when feeling depressed to keep her bad mood from affecting those around her. [Sorry for my novel of a backstory, but I felt like it was necessary.]

I love that windy effect around her hooves :) Freaking epic design idea/background story. I really think you have a shot at winning, good luck!
