Done in trams and during lectures. 3D at home. The bone looks better (in a composition matter) when it is not 3D or on the farest layer. #pokemon#fanart#cubone#3D
@OneRing I like Cubone. However, on one lecture, the week ago, I launched Pokedex 3D Pro and I pick few pokemon that I felt I would like to paint. Treecko had been painted week ago and today I went with Cubone.
@catfan960 The only purpose of the fakemon was tricking people with the fake Corocoro skan I made. I drew an evolution for the fakemon later. There is no need to draw it more.
Whoa even from such a difficult perspective Cubone still is immediately recognizable! I love the way you color; it is so soft... Plus this is just ridiculously adorable.
hahaha its funny how you pass through a thousand different positions and place the arms and legs in so many places before it stays exactly how you want.. I'm the same way! hahaha its nice to see the process... but before the update (actually, i dont know if it's still like this), Colors only recorded a limited amount of brush strokes, so when I realized that, I started using the "undo" button way more if the position wasnt right. argh. x_x
@paulo I'm perfectionist and if there is something I don't like I must correct it untill it's perfect. I wanted to do an action pose first. And I wanted a challenge: symmetry, which I'm not the best at. I managed to sketch the head quite well but then I realised the head isn't the best placed for the action pose. As I liked the head I decided to work with it before I erase it. Apparently I found another idea: a standing Cubone in perspective short for a 3D effect. And the head was ideal for that.
This was actually going to be a painting, not a drawing, but I thought it would be nice to make something easier to shade (doing linearts in Colors! isn't the most pleasant thing btw). I had problem with the holding arm, since the Cubone hand is quite... undeveleloped, so I used my own hand and a bottle of water as a reference (this had to look funny on the lecture). The rest are final tweaks and lineart.
I used undo quite often previously, now I almost stopped using it. First, sometimes it took a lot of time to undo something, second, I often ended with "undo button broken". Now I actually try to avoid undo at all cost and usually use it when I accidentaly make a big line through the screen or paint on a wrong layer. And when I put my signature, because sometimes it's too small, too big, askew etc.
hahaha I know the feeling. In one of my drawings, I started making Peach throwing a fireball from her kart (as in Mario Kart 7), and the hand, that f*ckin hand! haha I wouldnt get that right! so I ended up making her throwing a greenshell. I usually don't have trouble with hands, but THAT HAND hahahah.
Bottle, ey? and people think this perspectives and awesomeness comes from nowhere. cool thinking. And sometimes "undo" takes FOREVEEER!, argh, it pisses me off. I guess i'll start erasing again. The 3D in your images is amazing. Mine is kinda improving... in the last few Puppet-mons I've done. May I ask you how you do it? Or you're one of those "a magician never reveals his tricks?" haha When I want it to be smooth, like realistically, I make one flat image at first, then duplicate this layer and start erasing where I want to be further from the view, and successively until I have the depth I wanted, BUT some spots (mostly lineart) get duplicated. Anyway, sorry to bother you with my shit. haha (:
@paulo I do as you described: duplicate layers and erase. I try to erase layers below, if the layer above is full.
When I entered the Colors! Gallery from my cpu to download the latest skull, I noticed the Cubone one. I saw the 3D is recommended. I got curious but since I already had Colors closed, I noted in my Game Notes your name, to check the puppetmons later, when I will be online with my 3DS. I may don't comment, but I'll see it.
whoa, I'd be honored if you could judge the quality of my puppet-mons :) both 3d and shading. Feel free to drop some knowledge (tips and criticism ~\o\). I gotta practice a lot more my artwork. I intend to work with animation, so... yeah. haha. Where are you from again?
This is a awesome painting! ( liked )
Please could you have a look at my gallery. I would really appreciate it, I have some paintings you might like :D
This one is also nice, but here 3D is not so well done as in some of your other paintings, it looks more like layers here, i.e. at "Into the Night" it looks more like a 3D object and the layers there fade into one another, so it looks more like a 3D object, not like layers, as here.
did you know that a cubone is a baby kangaskan and its mother died so it wears its moms skull on its head. without it, they would not be able to evolve. :)

# 1 0 4 Cubone, the Lonely Pokemon!
Type: Ground (GRD)
Evolves into: Marowak, at lvl **
Info: When it thinks of its dead mother, it cries. When it cries, it makes the skull it wears rattle hollowly.
Pokedex entry for Cubone. Nice job, btw! : 3
01 May, 2013, 11:47 pm
Sorry, evolves at lvl 2 8. Still hating the Colors! developers for censoring numbers.
